BeneMeat: Europe Needs Less Bureaucracy and More Room for Innovation

&nbsp;A new scientific article focused on a feeding trial in domestic cats has been published in the journal Frontiers in Veterinary Science. Optimal acceptance was observed in 9 out of 10 cats, with significantly lower leftovers reported for the diet containing cultivated meat compared to the control diet based on food-grade chicken. The study also showed comparable protein and fat digestibility between both diets, stable body and muscle condition in cats, and optimal fecal consistency throughout the trial. Coolty Meat: Complete cultivated dog food introduced at Interzoo 2026
FORZA10 becomes the first in the world to launch complete dog food based on cultivated meat under the newly established brand „Coolty Meat“.

The Try &amp; Share program, conducted between September and December 2025, represents the first testing of cultivated meat for pets in the European Union. Its objective was to evaluate how dog owners perceive this new category of products and to gather feedback from real consumers. Nearly 88% of participants reported that their dogs liked the treats, and over 85% observed that their dogs were genuinely excited when receiving them. Product quality was also rated highly. More than 83% of owners considered the treats to be as good as or even better than those commonly available on the market. In addition, 90% stated they would recommend them to friends or veterinarians.Participation in the program also significantly shifted perceptions of cultivated meat. Following the trial, both trust in product safety and willingness to include it regularly in dogs’ diets increased. More than 95% of participants reported no concerns about feeding cultivated meat to their dogs. The study also demonstrated strong commercial potential, with over 86% of participants stating they would purchase the product once it becomes available. Beyond product quality, key drivers for future purchase included animal welfare benefits, the absence of slaughter, and sustainability.The program also provided valuable insights for further product development. Participants most frequently suggested improvements in treat size and texture. Although the Try &amp; Share I program has concluded, the program website remains active. Try & Share I. Results: First EU Trial of Cultivated Meat for Dogs Shows Strong Interest and High Acceptance Among Owners

The published article, titled “Life cycle assessment of industrial-scale cultivated meat production: case study of real market entry via pet food application,” provides a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Unlike previous estimates based on laboratory tests, this study works with primary data from pilot production and models of the upcoming industrial operation. The analysis is based on technology designed for a production capacity of 400–600 kg of meat per day, offering a more accurate and relevant perspective on the environmental footprint of cultivated meat in commercial production.Results indicate that large-scale cultivated meat production can achieve comparable or lower environmental impacts than conventional meat, with the choice of raw materials and energy mix being crucial factors. “The goal was to align the environmental impact assessment with the real conditions of future production. Using primary data from the industrial process allows us to significantly refine previous estimates and provides a vital reference framework for further development in the field of cultivated meat,” says Miroslav Žilka, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Management and Economics at CTU and co-author of the study.The analysis shows that the current carbon footprint is 5.3 kg CO2 eq. per kilogram of product, which is lower than that of conventional beef or pork. Furthermore, identified optimization steps can reduce this value to just 3.3 kg CO2 eq., bringing cultivated meat below the footprint of European conventional chicken production. The energy intensity of production currently stands at approximately 66 MJ per kilogram, with the potential to decrease further to 61.5 MJ.“For BeneMeat, it is essential to work with real data. This study clearly demonstrates that our technology has the potential to succeed in industrial production from both a technological and environmental standpoint,” says Jan Luprich, Business Development at BeneMeat.
